Body of Washington visitor pulled from waters near Kaanapali
KAANAPALI, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - -
An 80-year-old visitor from Washington died after he ran into trouble in waters off Kaanapali on Sunday.
Firefighters and Ocean Safety Personnel responded to 2605 Kaanapali Parkway for a missing swimmer shortly after noon Sunday. Officials say the man was last seen just north of Black Rock, approximately 20 feet off the pier.
The man's body was found by two surfski paddlers about 100 yards from shore. UFO Parasailing sent one of their Zodiac's to rescue the man.
Ocean Safety officials began CPR on the patient, but their efforts were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
