HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - As Tropical Storm Ana moves away from the Hawaiian islands, it is leaving behind large waves, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a high surf advisory for Hawaii shores. The following shores are included in the advisory:

Big Island:

North-facing shores

Oahu:

North-facing shores

Molokai:

North-facing shores

Maui:

North-facing shores

Kauai:

North- and west-facing shores

Niihau:

North- and west-facing shores

These shores remain under the advisory until 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Forecasters said waves will reach heights of 10 to 15 feet along north-facing shores, 8 to 12 feet along west-facing shores and 6 to 10 feet along south-facing shores. Strong breaking waves, shore break and strong long shore and rip currents will make swimming difficult and dangerous.
