Flood advisories expire for Big Island, Oahu

The flood advisories have expired.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued flood advisories for the Big Island and Oahu on Sunday due to effects from Hurricane Ana.

The advisory for the Big Island is in effect until 10:15 a.m. At about 7:10 a.m., the radar showed heavy rain in the Hilo area. Other locations in the advisory include, but are not limited to, Ookala, Pepeekeo and Hawaiian Paradise Park.

The advisory for Oahu is in effect until 11:30 a.m. At about 8:15 a.m., the radar showed heavy rains across many parts of Oahu. Other locations in the advisory include, but are not limited to, Wailua, Turtle Bay, Waiahole, Wahiawa, Ewa Beach, Maile and Waikiki.

NWS advises staying away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding.
