LIHUE, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Retired auto dealer James Pflueger has been sentenced to seven months in jail for his role in a deadly dam breach on Kauai more than eight years ago.
As part of a plea agreement, Pflueger, 88, also received five years probation as part of his sentence. He pleaded no contest to reckless endangering last July.
Seven people were killed when Kauai's Ka Loko Dam breached in 2006. At the time, the dam was located on property that belonged to Pflueger, and authorities said he had tampered with a spillway, causing the accident.
