HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - With Ana impacting the Hawaiian islands as a Category 1 hurricane, various closures and changes have been announced across the state. We will post the information as we receive it here. You may email updated closure information to the newsroom at news@hawaiinewsnow.com.

The state Department of Land and Natural Resources announced that all state parks are open on Tuesday, Oct. 21. 

Transportation Changes

Hawaiian Airlines has canceled the following flights on Sunday, Oct. 19:

  • HA103 (departing from Honolulu and arriving in Lihue)
  • HA123 (departing from Honolulu and arriving in Lihue)
  • HA333 (departing from Honolulu and arriving in Lihue)
  • HA303 (departing from Honolulu and arriving in Lihue)
  • HA104 (departing from Lihue and arriving in Honolulu)
  • HA124 (departing from Lihue and arriving in Honolulu)
  • HA304 (departing from Lihue and arriving in Honolulu)
  • HA508 (departing from Lihue and arriving in Honolulu)
  • HA535 (departing from Kahului and arriving in Lihue)
Hawaiian Airlines announced that it will waive change fees for flights scheduled for travel on Oct. 16-19. 

Island Air announced that it will suspend select flights Saturday, Oct. 18, through Monday, Oct. 20.

United Airlines has cancelled its daily flight (UAL219) from Chicago to Honolulu on Friday, Oct. 17. It was originally expected to arrive at approximately 2 p.m.

Pride of America will arrive into Honolulu Friday evening in order to ensure that guests on board the ship can disembark.

Big Island 
The road to the summit of Maunakea -- above the Visitor Information Station at the 9,000' level -- remains closed on Tuesday, Oct. 21. The steep, unpaved portion of the summit road above the VIS is closed due to extensive erosion and damage from storm runoff caused by Hurricane Ana. Road repairs continue to occur, but due to the magnitude of damage progress is slow. It is not known when the road will open. For more information, click here.

The Hawaii State Department of Education (DOE) will close all public schools on Hawaii Island on Friday, Oct. 17. Click here for more details.

Kamehameha Schools Hawai'i Campus and all Hawai'i Island preschools will be closed on Friday, Oct. 17. All athletic and after-school activities on Hawai'i Island are cancelled beginning Thursday, Oct. 16, and extending through the weekend.

Parker School in Kamuela, Hawaii will be closed October 17. All events held during the weekend of 10/17/2014 – 10/18/2014 have been cancelled.

Saturday, October 18 Refuge Open House event at Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge is cancelled.

Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park will be closed Friday, October 17. Most of Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park is open on Sunday, Oct. 19 except for Mauna Loa Road which remains closed due to downed trees.

FOLK (Friends if the Libraries, Kona) Saturday Book Sale at The Kailua Kona Library has been cancelled.

Hawai‘i County has cancelled the Oct. 18 Mayor's Health Fest and Keiki Triathlon.

The Big Island International Hamfest, scheduled for Saturday, October 18 at the Waimea Community Center, has been cancelled.

The screening of the new documentary Ka Hana Kapa, scheduled for Oct. 19 at the Imila Astronomy Center in Hilo, has been postponed due to Tropical Storm Ana. The documentary, which tells the history of kappa in Hawaii, will now be shown Sunday, Nov. 16 at the astronomy center.

All Big Island public libraries will be closed on Friday, Oct. 17. In addition, programs at all libraries on all islands scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18 have been cancelled.

The 23rd Annual Pumpkin Patch Festival at Hawaii Preparatory Academy's scheduled for Sunday, October 19, has been postponed. The event now will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, at the school's Upper Campus.

The Battle of the Islands 2014 state roller derby championship has been rescheduled to the weekend of Nov. 15 due to the county's closure of the Hilo Civic Auditorium. 

All Hawaii County and State beach parks on Hawaii Island will close Friday ahead of the arrival of Tropical Storm Ana, according to the Hawaii County Civil Defense. 

The Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge will be closed to the public on Saturday, Oct.18. All activities scheduled to occur that day in celebration of National Wildlife Refuge Week will also be cancelled, including Lighthouse Tours and the hike to Mokolea Point.

The Kohala Mountain Pumpkin Patch and Farm, open every weekend in October and on Nov. 1, will remain open this weekend.

Maui County

The Hawaii Association for Family and Community Education 64th Annual Convention at Maui Beach Hotel is cancelled. It was originally scheduled for October 17-19.

Emergency Preparedness Training, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 17 at the Kalana o Maui (County) Building, has been cancelled

The Fall Harvest Festival, a fundraiser for Haku Baldwin Center's non-profit therapeutic programs, has been cancelled. The festival was scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 19, from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at 444 Makawao Avenue.

Wailuku Hongwanji Mission 115th Anniversary Committee announced its 115th anniversary special commemoration service and celebratory brunch scheduled on Sunday, October 19, 2014 is postponed to Sunday, November 2, 2014. Due to the expected storm, there will be no service in the temple on the morning of October 19, 2014.

The state Department of Land and Natural Resources is cancelling the Mouflon sheep rifle hunt, originally planned for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 18 and 19.

The Festivals of Aloha "Parade Day" event, scheduled for Oct. 18 at Hana Ball Park, has been cancelled.Carden Academy of Maui Fall Festival, originally planned for Oct. 18, is rescheduled to Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Maui County parks, campgrounds and recreational facilities will be closed Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014. Facilities will reopen following appropriate safety assessments at each park site. Campsites will be closed starting Friday, Oct. 17. Unless weather conditions are worse than predicted, all Maui County landfills are expected to remain open Saturday, Oct. 18, with normal schedules except on Molokai, which will close early at 1:00 p.m. due to staffing levels.

Valley Isle Gymnastics on the island of Maui will be closed Saturday, October 18. 

Oahu

BayFest--scheduled for October 17-19--has been cancelled. Pre-purchased tickets will be refunded. For refund information, call Information, Tickets and Tours at 254-7563. Visit the BayFest website at www.bayfesthawaii.com for updates and information.The Department of Parks and Recreation will postpone the 26th Annual Talk Story Festival until November 7 and 8, 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m. each night at McCoy Pavilion in Ala Moana Regional Park.

Saturday's planned multi-beach cleanup on Leeward Oahu has been cancelled and will be rescheduled for a later date. The cleanup was to begin Saturday at 7:30 a.m. at Depot's Beach Park in Nanakuli and continue on to Ulehawa, Nanakuli Beach Park, Zabland Beach Park, and Black Rock.

All activities in the St. Francis School gym have been cancelled.

The Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH) schedule has changed due to Ana. The following games will be moved to Oct. 17: St. Francis vs. Iolani (3:15 p.m.), Damien vs. Pac-Five (5:30 p.m.), Saint Louis vs. Kamehameha (8:15 p.m.).

The Oahu Interscholastic Association (OIA) has announced that the Kaiser vs. Mililani and Waianae vs. Farrington football games have been moved to Oct. 17. The Radford vs. Pearl City and Kalani vs. Nanakuli games have been pushed back to next weekend.

The Free Keiki ID event scheduled for Saturday, October 18, from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Pearl Kai McDonalds is cancelled.

The Haleiwa Jodo Mission YBA Craft Fair scheduled for Saturday, October 18 will be postponed to the following Saturday, October 25, 9 am - 2 pm.

The 11th Annual Kaimuki Clean-Up is re-scheduled from Saturday, Oct. 18th to Saturday, Nov. 8th.

The Department of Human Services (DHS) Vocational Rehabilitation Division (DVR) Ho'opono Rehabilitation Center for the Blind is cancelling the Friday, Oct. 17, 2014 White Cane Safety Awareness Day Walk on Oahu.

Street Grindz and Kamehameha Schools has decided to cancel Honolulu Night Market this Saturday, October 18th.

The 3rd annual Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festival "Westside Style," originally scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 19, has been rescheduled to Sunday, Nov. 2.

Easter Seals Hawaii's Kapolei location is cancelling its benefit concert, ‘Aha Mele, that was supposed to be held Saturday, Oct. 18 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. The concert has been rescheduled for Nov. 8 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. with new band additions.

The Department of Environmental Services (ENV) Storm Water Quality Branch has cancelled both the Pearl Harbor Bike Path and Chinatown cleanups this Saturday due to Tropical Storm Ana.

The Muolaulani Foundation and Hawaii Theatre Center have rescheduled HULIAU 2014… WE DANCE NOW to Oct. 26. The Hawaii Theatre Box Office will be closed from 5 p.m. this Friday until Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. when the box office will resume normal hours.

The Footsteps to Transition Fair 2014, originally scheduled for Oct. 18 at Mililani High School, has been cancelled.

Lyon in Summer, scheduled for Oct. 20 at Lyon Arboretum, is cancelled and may be rescheduled. 

Island Pacific Academy's Open House and Fall Family Festival, originally scheduled for Saturday Oct. 18, have been rescheduled for Saturday, Nov. 8.

Saturday's Heroes of Aloha event will be moved from the Waikiki Shell to the Neal S. Blaisdell Center Arena. All other elements will remain the same.

Hawaii Youth Symphony's Community Concert, scheduled for 5:00 pm on October 19 at Kawaiahao Church, has been cancelled.

Special Olympics Hawaii will cancel four events this weekend including competitions for Central/Honolulu Bowling Singles, Leeward Bowling Singles, the Oahu Regional Basketball tournament, and the Young Athletes Program.

Komen Race for the Cure, scheduled for this Sunday, is rescheduled for Sunday, November 2, 2014.

Taste of Kalihi 10/18/14 @ 10am– Cancelled

Honolulu Night Market 10/18/14 @ 6pm - cancelled

The 2014 Moanalua High School Marching Band Menehune Classic Invitational is cancelled for this Saturday and will not be rescheduled.

The City is revoking camping permits for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Pre-Halloween Party Wicked at Longhis' Ala Moana scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18, has been postponed. The event will now be held from 9:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday, Oct 24. Mid-Pacific will be closed Saturday, October 18 and Sunday, October 19. This closure includes all athletics and extra-curricular activities.

Jodo Mission of Hawaii Annual Bazaar at 1429 Makiki Street, is postponed from Sunday, Oct. 19 to Sunday, Oct. 26, 8am to 3pm.

The book launching of "A Nation Rising", as well as the accompanying photo exhibit by Ed Greevy, has been cancelled. The book launching, photo exhibit and reception has been rescheduled for Sunday, November 2, at 3 p.m.The museums,theater and ticket counter and snack shop at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center will be closed on Saturday, Oct. 17. The Pearl Harbor Visitor Center bookstore and grounds will remain open until 2 p.m. that day. The Pearl Harbor Visitor Center will remain closed on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014. Reopening of the visitor center and resuming boat tours to the USS Arizona Memorial will occur after a National Park Service and U.S. Navy assessment has been conducted to ensure safety for all.

The Pacific Aviation Museum is open Saturday and Sunday, and its Open Cockpit Day is still happening as planned for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The St. Andrew's Schools has postponed SAT Testing scheduled for Saturday and an open house scheduled for Sunday.

Damien Memorial School has cancelled its middle school dance scheduled for Friday night.

All Religious Education classes at St. Theresa Co-Cathedral are cancelled this Sunday , October 19, as well as the recollection for Grades 7 & 8 on Oct 18. 

Na Mele No Na Pua Sunday Showcase on Oct. 19 has been canceled and is rescheduled to Nov 9. 

The 38th Annual North Shore Menehune Surf Contest at Haleiwa Ali'i Beach Park on Oct 18 and 19 has been cancelled. The event is scheduled to resume on Oct 25 and 26. 

All events at Windward Community College are cancelled on Saturday and Sunday, October 18 and 19.

The final performance of Hairspray at Paliku Theater is now back on. The show starts at 4 p.m.

The following City and County of Honolulu facility closures have been announced for Oct. 19: Hanauma Bay, the Honolulu Zoo, the Waipio Soccer Complex, Central O'ahu Regional Park and the West Lock Golf Course. All other city parks and golf courses remain open, though user discretion is advised.


Kauai

The Kauai Mortgage Assistance Fair is postponed to October 29th.

Hawaiian Homes Commission meetings originally scheduled for Monday, Oct. 21, and Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at the Lihue State Building on Kauai will be postponed to Monday, Oct. 27, and Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014.

The Hawaiian Homestead Community Meeting scheduled for Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School Cafeteria will also be postponed a week. All Department of Hawaiian Home Lands district offices statewide will remain open until further notice, weather permitting.

The state Department of Land and Natural Resources is cancelling the Puu Wa'a Wa'a feral goat and sheep hunt on Saturday and Sunday Oct. 18 and 19 as well as the special access cattle control hunt at Puu Oo on Saturday Oct. 18.

DLNR has also announced that State Parks, State Forest Reserves, Natural Area Reserves, Game Management Areas and Small Boat Harbors on Kauai will remain closed on Oct. 19.

The Coast Guard Captain of the Port reopened Nawiliwili Port and Port Allen in Kauai.
