Man arrested for alleged Waikoloa knife assault

WAIKOLOA, HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Big Island man is being held at the Kona police cellblock for allegedly slashing two 22-year-old women with a knife during a fight. Officers arrested Aaron Nakamoto, 34, on suspicion of first-degree assault.

Police received a report on Sunday night that a man was assaulting two women in the Waikoloa Highlands Center parking lot. Sources told Hawaii News Now that after a run-in at a restaurant, one of the women later punched him outside, then he attacked them with the knife.

Responding officers found that the participants had left the scene. Officers identified the man as Nakamoto and tracked him down at his Waikoloa home. He was taken to the North Hawaii Community Hospital and treated for facial injuries and a leg wound.

Officers also located the two women, both from Waikoloa, at the hospital. They arrived in a private vehicle. Police said one of them suffered lacerations to her face, throat and neck. The other had wounds on her left arm and chest.

Nakamoto has filed an assault complaint against the women for his injuries.
