HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A strong earthquake has shaken an area off the coast of Central America, but it was not strong enough to generate a tsunami threat to Hawaii.
The quake was measured at a preliminary magnitude 7.4, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It was centered just off of Central America at a depth of 22 km.
The earthquake happened at 5:52 p.m. HST.
