Peaches, cannoli, and crab meat—oh my! Arnold, Brownberry and Oroweat Bakeries have revealed the top 12 Finalists in the first-ever “America's Better Sandwich” Contest, hailing from communities across the country, one of which comes from right here in Hawaii.
Local teacher and cook Randolph Florendo is looking to take his "Pacific Crab Sandwich" to the top of the heap in hopes of taking home the $25,000 grand prize.
The top 12 Sandwich Architects, narrowed from a pool of more than a thousand entrants, flexed their culinary muscle with sandwiches featuring seasonal ingredients, fresh flavors and regional influences in four categories: Creative Classic, Stealthy Simple, Fueling Good and Meatless Marvel.
The Finalists' recipes boast innovative, better-for-you ingredients and an array of flavor combinations, landing each entrant the opportunity to be crowned “America's Better Sandwich” on National Sandwich Day, November 3, 2014.
