A Honolulu man is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle on Likelike Highway in the Kalihi area shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday.
Witnesses say the 34-year-old man crossed Likelike Hwy. near Alu St. against a "no walking" signal and was not using a marked crosswalk. A 26-year-old Honolulu man, driving a 2003 Chevrolet MPV, was traveling southbound on Likelike Hwy. when he struck the pedestrian while on a green light.
The pedestrian sustained major head and internal injuries, and was transported by ambulance to Queens Medical Center in critical condition.
Police officials closed a portion of Likelike Hwy. around 10:22 p.m. to conduct a traffic investigation. Roads were reopened about 2 hours later.
The investigation is ongoing.
