Local chef to participate in Lucky Rice event in Las Vegas

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - This weekend, the Lucky Rice Festival will be holding it's 3rd Annual Luck Rice Night Market at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.

Along with this weekend's festivities in Vegas, Lucky Rice celebrates Asian culture through different events, tastings and dinners in New York City, Miami, L.A. and San Francisco.

Chef de Cuisine Jon Matsubara of Japengo Restaurant at the Hyatt Regency is invited to the Vegas event this week.

To celebrate its third year in Las Vegas, the LUCKY RICE Night Market at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas brings the flavors and sensations of Asian markets from Taiwan to Thailand to the Boulevard Pool.

Celebrity chefs from across the U.S. and Las Vegas will recreate the celebratory chaos and delicious energy of the quintessential Asian night market experience with a distinctly cosmopolitan flavor.

Each imaginative dish will be paired with modern Asian-inspired cocktails by BOMBAY SAPPHIRE East, the official spirit of the festival, to highlight the unique flavors of each culinary creation.

Joining Chef Matsubara this weekend will be Andy Yang (Rhong Tiam, NYC), Bank Atcharawan (Chada Thai, Las Vegas), Ben Spungin (Rose.Rabbit.Lie, Las Vegas), Pichet Ong (NYC), Susur Lee (Lee, Toronto), Ho Chee Boon (Hakkasan, Las Vegas), Chris Oh (Seoul Sausage, Las Vegas), among others (full list of participants and tasting/cocktail menu below).
