High Surf Advisory issued for south shores

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A larger than expected swell has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a High Surf Advisory for all south-facing shores through 6 p.m. Thursday.

Forecasters said surf will build Tuesday night and Wednesday to 7 to 10-foot face heights before declining Thursday.

Impacts will be moderate, with strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents that will make swimming difficult and dangerous.

Beachgoers should exercise caution and heed all advice from ocean safety lifeguards.
