Showcasing Hawaii's natural beauty with Ka Iwi Coast run

EAST HONOLULU, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hui Nalu, Hawaii's oldest canoe club, will be hosting a one of a kind walk/run on Sunday, Oct. 5.

The event is 4 miles along the Ka Iwi coast and is the only run that closes the road along the coast so participants can really experience the beauty of the coastline as they travel through it.

The event is considered to be a cultural and community oriented one as well. More than 1,500 people are expected to participate, and many of the area businesses and sports businesses are sponsors.

At the end of the race, there will be several non profits displaying information about their organization. Emphasis is on organizations with cultural ties to the area.

There will also be a big push to promote preserving the beauty of the untouched coastline along Ka Iwi. By bringing people to Ka Iwi and showing them one of the last undeveloped areas, hope are that people will get a better appreciation for keeping the area development free.
