Hawaii State Teachers' Association Wants to Vote "No on 4"

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

"Yes on 4" is a proposition to get more four-year-olds in preschool. To discuss this issue which has many Honolulu teachers and parents divided is Joan Lewis, a teacher at Kapolei High School and Vice President of the Hawaii State Teachers' Association.

HSTA is not opposed to the idea of letting four year-olds start early, they are, in their words "opposed to the lack of a plan behind this specific proposition." They fear this plan will favor  wealthy children and leave children of a lower economicstatuss in need of education, left out.

Lewis, and HSTA believe people should vote "No on 4" and feel a junior kindergarten system needs to be reopened and expanded.
