HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A combination of wind waves and a long period north-northeast swell has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a High Surf Advisory for the east-facing shores of the islands.
The advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Saturday. Surf of six to eight feet is expected. Be on the lookout for strong breaking waves and shore breaks, with strong long shore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
Beachgoers, swimmers and surfers should exercise caution and heed all advice from ocean safety lifeguards. Boaters should expect recreational surfers and body boarders using harbor channels to access surfing areas.
