Flood advisory issued for Kauai

HANAPEPE, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a flood advisory for Kauai until 9 a.m. Friday.

At approximately 6 a.m., the radar showed heavy rain falling at a rate of 1.5 inches per hour near Hanapepe, slowly moving along the south shore of Kauai.

Other locations in the advisory include Kipu Falls, Waimea, Puhi, Pakala Village, Omao, Mana, Lawai, Kekaha, Kaumakani and Kalaheo.

Forecasters advise staying away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff may also be dangerous to drivers due to ponding.
