UH to begin conference play on the road

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine volleyball team is hitting the road for the start of conference play.

Hawaii is trying to defend its Big West title after a slow start.

The team went 8-3, losing to all ranked opponents.

UH even fell out of the national rankings for the first time in 22 years, but managed to notch consecutive wins heading into conference play.

Shoji says the squad is exactly where he expected it to be.

"Our lineup was in flux for a long time and maybe now, it's set for a little bit," Shoji said. "We'll see how it goes, but I guess we can't ask for anything more. We're in position, we have a good team. I think we have a lot of room for improvement, so we'll keep working hard."

#25 Hawaii faces UC-Davis on Friday night, followed by UC-Riverside on Saturday.
