KANEOHE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Residents in Ewa Beach may have noticed an airlift operation that took place earlier Tuesday evening.
A Kaneohe based super stallion helicopter flew to the naval air museum at Barbers Point, where soldiers hooked up one of the museum's display planes, which was then flown to Hickam Air Force Base.
The plane no longer flies, and had to be transported by helicopter. Planes can also be transported by truck, but it was said the wings of the plane would have been too wide for the gate at Hickam.
The Vietnam era Douglas A-4 Skyhawk will be on display during the "Wings of the Pacific" Airshow happening Satuday, September 27 and Sunday, September 28.
