A 58-year-old male pedestrian died Tuesday after he was struck by a Nissan pickup truck on Farrington Highway, police said.

Officers arrived at the scene near Taco Bell at around 12:45 a.m. where they found the man lying near the crosswalk. The 47-year-old female driver had initially hit the man and fled, but after witnesses described the vehicle, officers were able to track her down near the Waianae Boat Harbor and make an arrest.

The pedestrian was transported to the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center in critical condition and later died.

Police do not believe speed was a factor, but are looking into whether alcohol was involved.
