Hawaii County to hold lava informational fair

PAHOA, Hawaii (AP) - Hawaii County is holding an informational fair to help residents prepare for slow-moving lava flowing from Kilauea volcano.

The fair will be held Saturday at the Pahoa High School cafeteria.

There will be representatives from various public agencies, private companies and community groups. They will help people answer questions about issues such as transportation, moving, storage, insurance, finances, legal affairs and health care.

The Puna district is preparing for lava possible to cross over Highway 130, a major roadway that connects the area with the rest of the island. Officials say that could happen within weeks.

Officials are also monitoring whether the lava could reach any homes.
