COPY-Options abound for watching football, shows

(RNN) - There are numerous ways to watch live college and NFL football games, TV shows and local news without a cable or satellite provider.

Area news can be found 24 hours a day, seven days a week on your local Raycom affiliate's website. Some offer a live streaming version of their news broadcasts as well (check site for details).

NBC will stream Thursday night's kickoff game and Sunday Night Football online through PCs and tablet apps. A full slate of other sporting events is available with a login account from a service provider.

People who pay their bills online likely already have accounts they can use to log in. Otherwise, setting up an account can easily be done online or by contacting respective service providers.

Additionally, FOX will stream more than 100 NFL games this season. These are only in-market games, which is great for those who love to cheer on their local team from the comfort of their couch or if their favorite team happens to visit town.

NFL Mobile is available to Verizon customers to watch Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night Football and Monday Night Football. Certain customers can watch games broadcast on CBS and FOX.

College football is more widely accessible thanks to WatchESPN, which allows live streaming of nearly every FBS game that is not broadcast on FOX and CBS, as well as several FCS games. This also requires a login from a cable, satellite or telecommunications provider. Since ESPN owns the broadcast rights for Monday Night Football, fans can watch those games as well.

ABC streams games live, though there are currently location restrictions. However, since ABC and ESPN are both Disney companies, games broadcast nationally are available on WatchESPN.

Many of the networks' daytime and nighttime shows also can be found online at their respective websites and through their apps, which can be used on smartphones and tablets. People can watch full episodes of shows including NCIS (CBS), America's Got Talent (NBC), Modern Family (ABC), The Simpsons (FOX) and Arrow (The CW).
