WAILUKU, Hawaii (AP) - A teenager has been charged with second-degree murder in the beating death five months ago of a man at Kalama Park.
The Maui News reports bail has been set at $500,000 for Kaniela Dutro.
He is charged in the death of 44-year-old Michael Phillip Gray.
Dutro was 17 when Gray died. Police say he has been waived to adult status and was arrested Friday.
Maui police on March 15 were flagged down by a man reporting a fight at the park.
Officers found Gray near the oceanside pavilion bleeding and unconscious. He had suffered a skull fracture and other injuries. He died April 11.
Police say Dutro and a 15-year-old boy were taken into custody. Dutro until his arrest Friday had been held at a juvenile detention facility.
