HALAWA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Starting this week, contractors will begin work on two monitoring wells near leaky fuel tanks at Red Hill. The U.S. Navy says these wells will help pinpoint problems if a leak happens.
By the end of the year, the Navy will test the water to see if it's contaminated. Testing from other wells show the water supply is safe.
In January, thousands of gallons of jet fuel leaked from an underground storage tank in the area.
