HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Festivities at Iolani Palace on Sunday honored Hawaii's last reigning monarch.
The eighth annual Onipa'a celebration took place at the historic palace.
The free event featured hula performances, cultural demonstrations and of course, music by legendary award-winning artists Na Hoku Hanohano.
The event was to mark Queen Liliuokalani's birthday.
"We want everyone to understand our Queen and the important part in history during her time of life," said Soulee Stroud of the Hawaii Ponoi Coalition. "She is still our Queen today. So everything we do today is to remember her, but also to remember the history that's surrounded many of the events of her life."
