No tsunami threat to Hawaii after 6.8 earthquake near Coast of Central Peru

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A strong earthquake has shaken an area near the Coast of Central Peru, but it was not strong enough to generate a tsunami threat to Hawaii.

The quake was measured at a 6.8 magnitude according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said, "Based on all available data a destructive pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii. Repeat. A destructive pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii."
