Peanut butter, other butters recalled over salmonella concerns

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

nSpired Natural Foods has issued a voluntary recall of several retail lots of peanut butter, almond butter and other nut butters because they have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The potential risk was brought to nSpired's attention by the FDA following routine testing. It received reports of four illnesses associated with specific products. Affected products are sold under the Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Kroger and Safeway brands.

The following is a list of specific recalled products:

  • Arrowhead Mills Organic Crunchy Peanut Butter 16 oz.
  • Arrowhead Mills Organic Creamy Peanut Butter 16 oz.
  • MaraNatha Roasted Creamy Almond Butter 16 oz.
  • MaraNatha Roasted Crunchy Almond Butter 16 oz.
