Update from judge expected in Christopher Deedy murder retrial. Live on HawaiiNewsNow.com and mobile app

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - After several days of deliberation, the jury in the Christopher Deedy murder retrial is returning to the courtroom. The U.S. State Department agent is on trial for the 2011 shooting death of Kollin Elderts in Waikiki.

Last year's trial ended in a hung jury. This time, Circuit Judge Karen Ahn said the 12-person panel could consider murder, manslaughter or assault.

Earlier today, the jury told Judge Ahn they were unable to reach a verdict but eight jurors said they may be able to reach a verdict with more time. They returned to deliberations before noon.
