DNLR to hold community meeting at Hapuna Beach Park on Big Island

The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of State Parks will hold a community information meeting on its planned improvements at Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area on the west coast of Big Island.
The meeting will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the dining hall in the mauka section of the park.
State Parks staff will seek community input on proposed repair and renovation improvements of existing facilities in various park locations that include: roadway and pathway improvements, new foot showers, new rinsing shower, pavilion and barbecue facility improvements, comfort station repairs and renovations, improvements to picnic areas on the south end, stairway and pathway improvements at the Waialea section of the park, and related improvements to comply with current regulations and requirements, including the Americans with Disability Act.
“We are implementing these planned facility improvements and interested in community input to assess options to improve this park for residents and visitors,” said State Parks Administrator Dan Quinn.
