Julio generates High Surf Advisory for east-facing shores

EAST HONOLULU, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A declining northeast swell generated by Hurricane Julio has prompted a High Surf Advisory for east-facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island until 6 p.m. on Monday.

The National Weather Service expects surf to be between 5 to 8 feet, with strong, breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents that may make swimming difficult and dangerous. Beachgoers, swimmers and surfers should heed all advice from ocean safety officials.
