Hawaii News Now projects Kauai Mayor Bernard Carvalho and Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa will win their respective primary elections, with 57.3 percent and 63.9 percent of their county's votes, respectively.
The two top candidates in each county's mayoral race will square off against one another in November's general election.
Carvalho, who earned 10,466 votes, will face Dustin Barca in the general election. Barca earned 5,669 votes, or 31 percent, compared to Carvalho's 57.3 percent.
Arakawa, who had 10,136 votes after the third printout, is likely to run against challenger Tam Paltin, who had 1,603 votes, or 10.1 percent.
