Hundreds of Puna residents line up for emergency supplies
PAHOA, BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) -
Hundreds of Puna residents affected by Tropical Storm Iselle stood in line Saturday morning to receive emergency supplies such as ice, water and tarps at the Pahoa Fire Station.
The station opened at 10 a.m. Saturday for crews to distribute ice to residents who brought their own coolers from their homes, many of which are still without power.
Supplies quickly ran out however, about a half-hour after the station opened, leaving many residents without. At about 10:30 a.m., a Civil Defense official told the crowd that another truckload of ice is expected to arrive from Kona at 4 p.m.
