HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Downed trees caused the biggest problems on Oahu.
On Tantalus Drive, a small tree fell across the road, closing it for about four hours. Crews cleared that and sheared more trees that were hanging low over the road.
In the Alewa Heights area, part of the roof on one house was blown into the yard of another house across the street.
"It knocked down my banana and papaya tree," says Rona Leong.
Her niece, Esther Villanueva, says the sound of the roof ripping and landing in the garden woke her up.
"It was so loud," she says, "I thought it was thunder."
It took out the telephone cables too. The family was worried about more pieces breaking off from the neighbors home, but by mid afternoon, the winds died down.
