Big Island

The Hawaii State Department of Education (DOE) will close public schools through Friday, Aug. 8 on Hawaii Island.

State offices on Hawaii Island will close at noon tomorrow, Aug. 7, and remain closed all day Friday, Aug. 8.

The University of Hawai'i at Hilo and Hawai'i Community College, along with its West Hawai'i Education Center on Hawai'i Island will be closed all day on Thursday, Aug. 7 and Friday, Aug. 8.

Kanu o ka 'aina and Malamapokii Preschool will be closed to all on Thursday, Aug. 7 and Friday, Aug. 8 due to the pending storm. All KALO and KANU afterschool and evening programs as well as community programs scheduled at Kauhale ‘Oiwi o Puukapu located at 64-1043 Hi‘iaka Street, Kamuela, Hawaii are canceled.

PACT Head Start classrooms on Hawaii Island closed this Thursday, Aug. 7 and Friday, Aug. 8.

Kamehameha Schools announced that all its educational programs and offices on Hawaii Island will be closed on both Thursday at 2 p.m. and Friday this week, in anticipation of Hurricane Iselle. This includes the campus at Keaau, KS Preschools island-wide, Resource Centers in West and East Hawaii, and other business sites.

Kaiser Permanente will be closing all Big Island facilities at noon on Thursday. Pending facility assessments Friday morning, Big Island facilities will open for appointments at 10 a.m. The Mobile Health Vehicle will be closed Thursday and Friday. 

State Courthouses and Judiciary Offices on Hawaii Island will be closed beginning at noon on Thursday, Aug. 7 through Friday, Aug. 8.

Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) will close all of its managed lands, including forest reserves, wildlife sanctuaries, natural area reserves, Na Ala Hele hiking trails, game management areas, including Keanakolu cabins, Ainapo hiking trail, Muliwai trail and Waimanu valley campground until further notice. DOFAW has suspended issuing camping permits.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park will close all back country areas and certain roads in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, effective 6 p.m. Wednesday evening. Kilauea Visitor Center and Jaggar Museum will close at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8.

Five First Hawaiian Bank branches on the Big Island – Hilo, Kamuela, Kealakekua, Kona and Waikoloa -- will be open Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to assist customers. The Pahoa, Kamehameha, and Honokaaa branches will remain closed Friday.

Both of Central Pacific Bank's (CPB) branches on the Big Island will be closing early on Thursday, Aug. 7. The Hilo and Kailua-Kona branches will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and all other CPB branches will remain open for normal business hours.

The Hilo branch of HomeStreet Bank will close at 12 p.m. on Thursday. All other branches will remain open for normal business hours.

All Bank of Hawaii branches will be closed starting Thursday at 11 a.m. Call center operations, based in Kapolei on Oahu, will remain open to assist customers. Online banking and ATM services will continue to operate unless power interruptions are experienced.

The Office of Hawaiian Affairs is closed all day Thursday.

Hawaii County Democratic Party rally at the Mooheau Bandstand on Friday as well as the Unity Lunch on Sunday is also canceled.

Hawaiian Telcom operations will close at noon Thursday.

Parents And Children Together (PACT) Early Head and Head Start classrooms on Hawaii Island will be closed all day Friday, with the exception the Lehua Transition House which will remain open.

The Hawaii Department of Transportation advises Hawaii Island motorists that the Umauma Stream Bridge on state Route 19, which was closed Aug. 7 at noon due to the approach of Hurricane Iselle, is now open.

Planned Parenthood Health centers will be closed Friday.

All HMSA offices will be closed Friday.

All First Hawaiian Bank branch locations will be closed on Friday.

Honolulu-Star Advertiser will not be delivered to Hawaii, Maui, Molokai and Lanai on Friday.  Delivery will resume on Saturday, including Friday and Saturday editions.  Deliveries to Oahu and Kauai including the Garden Island are expected to be completed as normally scheduled with isolated minor delays.

All state highway roadwork is suspended from Thursday night through Sunday on the Big Island, Maui and Oahu.  HDOT also advises motorists taht the ZipperLane will not be opend and Freeway Service Patrol will not be in use on Friday.

All Central Pacific Bank branches on Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island will be closed on Friday.

All American Savings Bank branches statewide will close at 4 p.m. today and remain closed through Friday.

Kama'aina Kids A+/BC sites will remain closed until further notice.

All Public Libraries and support offices statewide will be closed on Friday.

Hawaiian Tel Federal Credit Union will be closed on Friday.

Servco Pacific Inc. will close all of its automotive, home appliance and insurance retail locations and corporate offices statewide on Friday.

Haili Christian School in Hilo will be closed Friday, August 8th and Monday, August 11th. 

The HMSA Center at Hilo and the Kona office will remain closed today.

The Hakalau and Paauilo Post Offices, both located on the Hamakua Coast will not open for business Friday, according to the United States Postal Service. Mail delivery and retail operations will resume Friday at all other Big Island Post Offices as soon as it is safely possible to do so.

Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park is closed Friday in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Iselle, park officials said.


Maui County

The Hawaii State Department of Education (DOE) will close public schools through Friday, Aug. 8 in Maui County (Maui, Molokai, Lanai).

State offices in Maui County (Maui, Molokai and Lanai) will close at noon tomorrow, Aug. 7, and remain closed all day Friday, Aug. 8.

UH Maui College and its Education Centers in Hana and Lahaina and on Moloka'i and Lana'i will close at noon on Thursday, August 7th and all day Friday, August 8th. Weekend operations will also be suspended.

Kamehameha Schools educational programs and offices on Maui and Moloka‘i will also be closed on Thursday, including the campus at Pukalani, KS Preschools on both islands, and the Resource Centers in Wailuku and at the Kulana ‘Oiwi Complex.

The County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation has announced the following closures of County facilities:

  • ALL County swimming pools will close at noon on Thursday until further notice.
  • Waiehu Golf Course will issue final tee times at noon on Thursday and remain closed until further notice.
  • ALL County camping sites will be closed Thursday - Sunday.
  • ALL community centers will be closed starting noon Thursday until further notice.
  • ALL County beach parks will be closed all day Thursday until further notice.
  • CORA-permitted (commercial) activities are canceled Thursday and Friday and until beach parks reopen.
  • All other County parks will be closed Thursday at noon until further notice.
Kaiser Permanente Maui Facilities closed on Friday:
  • Kihei Clinic
  • Lahaina Clinic
  • Maui Lani Elua Clinic
  • Wells Street Behavioral Health Office
  • Wailuku Medical Office
Pending facility assessment, Maui Lani Medical Office will open at 10 a.m. Friday for walk-in appointments. All other Maui facilities will be closed Friday.

State Courthouses and Judiciary Offices in Maui County will be closed beginning at noon on Thursday, August 7 through Friday, August 8.

Island Air will cancel flights servicing the islands of Maui and Lana?i beginning in the afternoon on Thursday, August 7, and will suspend all flights on Friday, August 8.


Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center will open for business at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 8. Friday’s regularly scheduled farmer’s market and all weekend stage events have been canceled.

Maui DOFAW will close all of its managed lands, including forest reserves, wildlife sanctuaries, natural area reserves, Na Ala Hele hiking trails, game management areas (including Lanai GMA); this closure also affects Polipoli State Park (persons with camping permits are being notified).

The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Hawaii Hunter Education Program classes scheduled this week on August 7 and 9, 2014 have been canceled, due to the closure of Baldwin High School on Maui because of arriving tropical storms Iselle and Julio. No residential refuse collection service on Friday. Residents are reminded to remove their trash bins from the curb or road on Thursday and to properly secure the bins to prevent damage.

All public schools on the island of Oahu will be closed on Friday, August 8, 2014 in anticipation of Hurricane Iselle, the Department of Education announced on Thursday.

All state offices will also be closed on Friday due to the impact of Hurricane Iselle.

Hawai‘i Pacific University will close its campuses Friday, Aug. 8, and Saturday, Aug. 9. The Friday and Saturday closures include the university's Downtown and Hawaii Loa campuses, the Oceanic Institute of HPU at Makapu‘u Point, and all military base locations.  UPDATE: HPU is closing its campuses Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

Heald College will close its Honolulu campus starting Thursday at 5 p.m. and all day Friday. 

Trinity Lutheran Church and School will close its campus Friday, Aug. 8. Classes and school-related activities -- including athletics practices, before- and after-school programs and other activities -- are canceled.

Hawaii Baptist Academy will be closed after 4 p.m. Thursday and all day Friday. 

Lutheran High School of Hawaii will be closed all day Friday. 

St. Francis School will be closed all day Friday.

The St. Andrew's Schools Summer Adventure program will not be operating on Friday.

The Mid-Pacific Institite open house for middle school has been canceled Friday.

Damien Memorial School will be closed all day Friday.

Sounds of Success Preschool will be closed all day Friday.

Holy Nativity School will be closed all day Friday.

Both Maryknoll School campuses will be closed on Friday and Monday.  All athletics events will be canceled from Friday at 5:30 p.m. through Monday.

Star of the Sea School and before/after school programs will be closed all day Friday.

Unity School will be closed all day Friday.

Montessori Community School's summer program will be closed all day Friday.

Iolani School campus will be closed all day Friday.

Queen Emma PreSchool is closed all day Friday.

Hanalani Schools in Mililani will be closing the campus at noon Thursday, through Monday.
  • Grades 1-12: Orientation sessions scheduled for Grades 1-12 on Monday, August 11, are rescheduled for Tuesday.
  • Grades 1-12: The first day of school for Grades 1 -12 will be Wednesday, August 13.
  • K3-K5: Orientation appointments scheduled for Monday will be moved to Wednesday. The Tuesday orientation appointments will continue as scheduled.
  • K3-K5: The first day for K3-K5 will be Thursday, August 14.
Pali View Baptist Preschool will be closed Friday.

Saint Mark Lutheran School will be closed on Friday. The Back-to-School Night (for grades 6-8) has been rescheduled for next Wednesday.

St. Michael School in Waialua will be closed all day Friday.St. Louis School's campus will close at 5 p.m. today through Friday.

University of Phoenix Hawaii Campuses (Kapolei and Downtown) will be closed from 6 p.m. today through Saturday.

All Rainbow Schools (Kahuku, sunset Beach, Wahiawa, Mililani, Honolulu and Kaneohe) will be closed on Friday.All KCAA Preschools will be closed all of Friday. 

Honolulu Waldorf School will be closed on Friday.

St. John Vianney School will be closed on Friday.

Mokulele Airlines have grounded several planes and canceled several flights.  Call center may be closed during the storm until it passes.

The Battleship Missouri Memorial will be closed on Friday, August 8, due to the stormy conditions from Hurricane Iselle.

DOFAW has closed the Peacock Flats camping area to hiking and camping, and the Manoa Falls trail.

HCDA will be closing all of its parks in the Kakaako Community Development District as of Wednesday, August 6, at 10 p.m. The parks will be reopened once state and city officials determine the danger has passed. 

The HCDA is also postponing its Saturday, August 9 Supplemental Public Comment Session and Community Briefing in Kalaeloa until further notice.

Remington College will be closed all day Friday and Saturday.

Chaminade University will be closed from 4:30 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday, including its Waialae campus, satellite campuses and all military base locations.

The Remington College graduation ceremony at Hawaii Convention Center originally scheduled for Friday, August 8 will be moved to Friday, September 19.

The BIA “Remodel It Right, Remodel It Green Expo” has been postponed due to the weather. Expo organizers are working with the Blaisdell to set a new date.

Hawaiian Mission Houses Historic Site and Archives will close early, at noon on Thursday, August 7, and remain closed for the entire day, Friday, August 8, 2014.

The Armed Services YMCA offices and programs will be closed Friday, Aug. 8 and Monday, Aug. 11.

Lifeguards will not be in towers, but will be on mobile patrol instead, according to the city.

The YMCA of Honolulu is ending the camp session of YMCA Camp Erdman early on Thursday, Aug. 7. Campers were originally scheduled to check out of camp on Friday, but campers will need to be checked out and picked up Thursday at 5 p.m. Parents also have the option of picking up their children earlier.

YMCA of Honolulu A+ DOE, Youth, Teen and Part-Time Pre-School Programs is canceled all day Friday.

YMCA of Honolulu Branches and All Programs will be Closed on Friday.

The Office of Hawaiian Affairs will be closed all day Friday.

The Honolulu Museum of Art will be closed to the public starting at 2 p.m. Thursday and all day Friday.

Hawaii Tourism Authority Board meeting canceled, Friday.

HART has canceled all rail-related lane closures beginning tonight through at least the weekend.  Rail construction normally scheduled along Farrington Highway in Ewa and Waipahu; Kamehameha Highway in Pearl City and Aiea; the H-1 Freeway Waiawa Interchange (H-1/H-2 merge); and various streets in Kalihi, downtown Honolulu and Kakaako will resume next week.

The city will provide one-way express bus service to downtown Honolulu and Waikiki Friday morning until 7:30 a.m.. The goal is to provide tourism workers transportation before hazardous conditions develop on Oahu. All other bus and Handi-van service is canceled.

All city parks will be closed.

The American Heart Association's Oahu Heart Walk has been rescheduled for Sept. 6 at Kapiolani Park.

The Children's Discovery Center will be closed on Friday.

All Legislative offices  will be closed on Friday.  Non-essential legislative personnel are being asked to stay home and off the roads during the storms.

Will Weinstein's Ethics Lecture Thursday night at UH Manoa School of Architecture Auditorium has been canceled.

Waimanalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill convenience centers transfer stations and H-POWER will be closed to all public and private vehicles.

Board of Water Supply Offices (Public Service Building, customer call center and Halawa Xeriscape Garden) will be closed on Friday.  The water emergency hotline will continue to operate on a 24-hour basis and will be available to customers.  Report water emergencies to 748-5000.

The 7th Annual Gabby Pahinui Waimanalo Kanikapila will be postponed and rescheduled for August 30, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Kama'aina Kids Corporate and Heeia Offices will be closed starting tomorrow until further notice. Windward, Honolulu, Waikele, and all other A+/BC/Preschool sites will be closed starting Friday.

Shriners Hospitals for Children is asking public not to shelter in hospitals.  All physician and therapy appointments are canceled, but walk-in Fracture Clinic for broken bones will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., no appointments necessary.

Hawaiian Telcom closing most Oahu operations on Friday.  But Network Operations Center and 24-Hour Service Center will be operational.

The 51st Annual Father Bray Football Classic has been cancelled.

The annual commemoration of the Bombing of Nagasaki has been rescheduled from August 9th to August 28th.

The Royal Hawaiian Center will close midnight on Thursday and pending current weather conditions, will re-open on Friday at 2 p.m.

Hawaiian Electric Customer Service Offices will be closed on Friday.  Customers may report power outages and downed power lines to 1-855-304-1212

Zippy's in Koko Marina, Kaimuki, Kalihi, Waimalu, and the location on Nimitz highway will be closed on Friday, August 8th. They are scheduled to reopen Saturday morning, August 9th. 

St. Joseph Parish School in Waipahu will be closed on Friday, August 8th and Saturday, August 9th. School will be open on Monday, August 11th.

Ward Village will be closed on Friday and will reopen on Saturday, August 9th. 

Polynesian Cultural Center will be closed on Friday. It is scheduled to reopen on Saturday for regular operating hours from noon until 9:30 p.m. 

St. Louis School  will be closed on Friday. It is scheduled to reopen on Monday. 

Schofield Barracks' Macomb gate will be closed from Friday, Aug. 8 at 5 a.m. to Monday, Aug. 11 (time to be determined). Once weather and road conditions improve, law enforcement personnel will determine if Macomb gate will reopen with normal gate hours of operation. Regular updates will be provided.

Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center is open and operational. A walk-in clinic will also be open Friday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Moanalua Medical Center campus. All other Oahu facilities will be closed Friday.

Starting Thursday at 10 p.m., Tripler Army Medical Center will curtail all routine non-emergent care while maintaining full emergency, surgical and inpatient services. If weather conditions allow, normal operations may resume as early as Saturday morning.

Windward Mall will remain open Friday, but stores within the mall may choose to close. 

All HMSA offices will be closed Friday.

The Battleship Missouri Memorial will extend its closure through Saturday, Aug. 9.



Kauai

All public schools on the island of Kauai will be closed on Friday, August 8, 2014 in anticipation of Hurricane Iselle, the Department of Education announced on Thursday.All state offices will also be closed on Friday due to the impact of Hurricane Iselle.

DOFAW camping areas, including Waimea Canyon, Alakai Wilderness, Sugi Grove and Kawaikoi will be closed. As of Wednesday morning, Division of State Parks will close Napali Coast State Wilderness Park and the Kalalau trail will be closed to entering hikers. Trail closed signs will be posted at the Kalalau trailhead. State Parks will send a helicopter out on Wednesday to warn campers at Kalalau beach to evacuate or shelter in place.

The Lihue Sunshine Market will not be held on Friday, Aug. 8.

All Central Pacific Bank branches on Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island will be closed on Friday.

All American Savings Bank branches statewide will close at 4 p.m. today and remain closed through Friday.

Kama'aina Kids A+/BC sites will be closed starting Friday.

The Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge will be closed on Friday and Saturday.

All Public Libraries and support offices statewide will be closed on Friday.

eWaste collection at Kauai Resource Center has been canceled and will resume next month on Sept. 12 and 13, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. The resource center will be closed throughout the weekend.

Hawaiian Tel Federal Credit Union will be closed on Friday.

Kauai Resource Center will be closed on Friday, August 8th and Saturday, August 9th. 

The HMSA office is open for regular business hours.

The Hanalei refuse transfer station is not accepting green waste at least until Tuesday due to the facility reaching its permitted capacity.


Lanai

The Office of Hawaiian Affairs will close early today at noon.

Parents And Children Together (PACT) Early Head and Head Start classrooms on Lanai will be closed all day Friday.Honolulu-Star Advertiser will not be delivered to Hawaii, Maui, Molokai and Lanai on Friday. Delivery will resume on Saturday, including Friday and Saturday editions. Deliveries to Oahu and Kauai including the Garden Island are expected to be completed as normally scheduled with isolated minor delays.
