Portions of Kalakaua Avenue closed for 'Hawaii Five-0' filming

Portions of Kalakaua Avenue will be closed Sunday morning for filming of the CBS TV series "Hawaii Five-0," the city says.

Kalakaua Avenue will be closed from Kuhio Avenue to Lewers Street from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Pedestrians will be allowed to proceed to stores, hotels and side streets, however, they may be asked to follow a detour or wait a few minutes while scenes are being filmed.

Olohana and Kalaimoku Streets will also be closed between Kuhio and Kalakaua Avenues. Lewers Street between Kalia Road and Kalakaua Avenue and the makai portion of beach walk near Kalia Road will become two-way streets.

The filming will be a part of the first episode of Season Five which will have its world premiere at Sunset on the Beach in Waikiki next month on September 13 and is scheduled for national broadcast on September 26.
