Man arrested in connection with fatal beating in downtown Honolulu

Michael Abella, 35, was arrested and charged Thursday for second-degree murder after assaulting a 57-year-man in downtown Honolulu on July 17. He is set to make his initial appearance in court on Friday.
A 57-year-old man died Tuesday after being assaulted in downtown Honolulu two weeks ago, Honolulu police said.
The victim was assaulted by a 35-year-old man on July 17, according to police. The assault case was reclassified as second-degree murder after the victim died in the hospital. It's not clear if the suspect has been arrested yet.
An autopsy scheduled Wednesday will determine the victim's cause of death.
