HONOLULU (AP) - A Japanese man who pleaded guilty to assaulting a flight attendant while flying to Hawaii for his honeymoon will soon return to Japan.

Kenji Okamoto received a three-month sentence Tuesday. He has already served more than two months and is expected to be released in a few weeks.

He previously pleaded guilty to interfering with a flight attendant's duties by assaulting and intimidating him.

Court documents say Okamoto was flying first-class from Osaka for his honeymoon.

The documents say an intoxicated Okamoto got upset when one of the flight attendants wouldn't take his tray away. Okamoto tried to punch a flight attendant who intervened. The flight attendant received bruises on his arm from blocking the punch.

Okamoto later apologized while crying. He also apologized in court while bowing.
