(CNN) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is launching an online TV channel.

The 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate announced The Sarah Palin Channel in a YouTube video. Palin called the project a "news channel that's a lot more than news."

She also promised subscribers a community where they can share ideas and discuss news of the day. Palin will serve as the executive editor and oversee the posted content.

Subscribing to the channel will cost $9.95 a month or $99.95 per year.

Active duty military can watch for free.
