Father-son piloting quest ends in tragedy

AMERICAN SAMOA (HawaiiNewsNow) - A teen pilot and his father attempting to fly around the world were supposed to return to their home in Indiana on Saturday.

Instead, while on the way to Honolulu, their plane crashed in waters near America Samoa late Tuesday. 

Seventeen-year-old Haris Suleman and his dad were trying to set a record for flying around the world in a single-engine plane.

Crews recovered the teen's body in the ocean near Pago Pago. 

The Coast Guard called off their search for the 58-year-old father Babar Suleman on Saturday evening after conducting an active search covering more than 4,000 nautical miles.
