HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Laumaka work furlough inmate is missing after he wasn't seen in an early morning head count, according to officials.
The state Department of Public Safety said Eric Pixley was last seen at the 11 p.m. head count. Honolulu Police and State Sheriffs have been notified.
How he left Laumaka is under investigation.
Pixley is 49 years old and is described as five feet, eight inches tall, weighing 170 pounds. he has brown hair and brown eyes.
A Public Safety spokeswoman said Pixley was serving time for probation violation. He will face an escape charge when he is captured, she said.
Laumaka is a minimum security work furlough center for community custody inmates and is located a block away from the Oahu Community Correctional Center. The department said inmates assigned to Laumaka are either actively seeking employment or are working in the community.
Anyone who sees Pixley is asked to call 911.
