Armed robbery at Mapunapuna Wendy's prompts police investigation
MAPUNAPUNA (HawaiiNewsNow) -
The Honolulu Police Department is investigating whether an armed robbery at Wendy's on Puuloa Road early Thursday is connected to a string of fast food robberies in the last two weeks.
Police said the suspect climbed through the drive-through window of Wendy's at approximately 1:30 a.m. and confronted a female employee with a "dangerous metal instrument." The suspect managed to flee on foot towards Nimitz Highway with an undisclosed amount of money.
No injuries were reported.
The suspect was described as being short and skinny and was seen wearing dark clothing and a mask.
The most recent fast food armed robberies this week occurred Wednesday at a Wendy's in Kunia and Monday at a McDonald's in Aiea. Police are also searching for the suspect in an armed robbery incident at a Jack in the Box in Waipahu last week.
