HONOLULU (AP) - Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie is launching a radio ad featuring President Barack Obama supporting the governor's bid for re-election.
Abercrombie campaign spokesman Shane Peters says the radio spot will air Wednesday morning in Hawaii.
In the ad, Obama says Abercrombie is "like ohana to me." He says Abercrombie knew his parents "before I was a twinkle in their eye."
Obama says Abercrombie has made gutsy decisions leading Hawaii. He says Abercrombie tackled a budget crisis and made smart investments in education. He also says Abercrombie fights for middle class and working families.
Abercrombie's campaign paid for the ad.
Abercrombie was one of the first to support Obama when he ran for president. Obama endorsed Abercrombie in December.
State Sen. David Ige is challenging Abercrombie in the Democratic primary.
