HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 27-year-old man who had gone missing with a 26-year-old woman was charged Tuesday for attempted murder, kidnapping and sexual assault. Matthew Bright will appear before a judge on Wednesday.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports Bright critically injured a man over the weekend by allegedly stabbing him in the stomach.
Honolulu police were also looking for Bright and Laura Layugan for several hours on Sunday. The couple had been involved in an alleged domestic incident. Police found and arrested Bright on suspicion of attempted murder and kidnapping. Layugan was found safe.
Bright's bail is set at $500,000.
