HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A couple of local boys are on the watch list for some major college football hardware.
Saint Louis School grad and Oregon Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariota has been nominated for the Davey O'Brien Award, which goes to the nation's top signal caller.
Mariota, a two-time All-Pac-12 selection, led the Ducks to an 11-2 record and threw for 3,665 yards and 31 touchdowns.
Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston won the award last season.
Also, he and Kahuku grad Hauoli Kikaha are on the radar for the Allstate American Football Coaches Association "Good Works Team" for community service.
The Washington Huskies linebacker is also up for the Dick Butkus Award, which is the awarded to the country's best linebacker and the Chuck Bednarik Award.
The Chuck Bednarik Award is given to the nation's defensive player of the year.
