KALAHEO, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Department of Water (DOW) has announced that Kalaheo Well 2 has been successfully restored and the area’s water conservation request has been lifted as of midnight Thursday.
“We would like to thank our staff, contractors and county departments for working tirelessly to restore Kalaheo’s water system and provide assistance to our customers,” said Kirk Saiki, DOW’s acting manager and chief engineer. “We would especially like to thank all Kalaheo residents and businesses for their extraordinary conservation efforts and their patience over the past six weeks while repairs were being made.”
DOW contractors will continue to complete the repairs to Kalaheo Well 1, which is expected to be online within the next two weeks.
The DOW has since discontinued supplemental water service through its temporary low-capacity submersible pump, temporary pipeline and booster pump. The water buffalos and water tanker have also been removed from the residential area.
