Monsoon rains will be a boon for campers heading to parks in Southern Arizona this weekend.

The Bureau of Land Management in the Gila District has eased fire restrictions that were put in place weeks ago to help prevent wildfires.

Increased humidity in the air, recent rainfall and more storms in the forecast have reduced the chances of a wildfire sparking.

Plastic and caution tape that have covered metal fire rings and grills at Rose Canyon Lake campground near Mount Lemmon were taken off Friday morning at 6 a.m., when the fire restrictions officially be eased.

This means campers can light campfires in the designated metal rings as well as on the ground where it is permitted, with the precaution of clearing away flammable brush or other materials from the surrounding area.

Vehicles should also not park over areas with dead grass where the vehicle's catalytic convertor may spark ignite dry vegetation.

Areas where fire restrictions are lifted are at the Coronado National Forest, Saguaro National Park, Casa Grande Ruins National Monument, Coronado National Memorial, Chiricahua National Monument, Fort Bowie National Historic Site, Tumacácori National Historical Park, Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument.
