A Nashville songwriter's night out on the town wound up landing him in handcuffs early Thursday morning.

Dallas Davidson was arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Police were called to Tin Roof on Demonbreun Street about a man trying to fight people in the bar.

When officers got there, they say they found Davidson in front of the bar yelling obscenities and racial slurs.

People inside the bar told investigators that Davidson was trying to provoke people to fight him.

According to court records, Davidson stopped giving his side of the story to police so he could yell homophobic slurs at a pedestrian.

That's when officers decided to arrest Davidson and took him to night court.

Davidson has written a string of No. 1 hits, 18 to be exact, for artists like Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley and Keith Urban.
