Local Connection: Salvation Army (Part 2)

Hi. I’m Barbara Wallace. What comes to mind when you think of The Salvation Army? Let me guess: Red Kettles, ringing bells, and thrift stores. But there’s much more. The Army provides a Pathway of Hope to anyone in need here in the islands. And if you find yourself in crisis – we’re here for you with these kinds of services:

The Army helps to feed the hungry and provide basic necessities to families.

We help at risk children and teens with summer camp, music lessons, after school tutoring, and homes for foster children.

We offer housing for low income seniors and day care for kupuna who are lonely or need supervision.

We have residential treatment programs for those battling addictions, even a therapeutic nursery for infants affected by drug use.

And now, we have a fabulous, state of the art fitness and recreation center in Kapolei called the Kroc Center Hawaii that’s enjoyed by residents from all walks of life.

So The Salvation Army is really here to meet the needs of our entire island ohana. If you need help, please call us. And if you WANT to help, we welcome your monetary donations year round not just at Christmas because need knows no season.
