Police investigate Puna home invasion robbery

PUNA, BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - Big Island police are investigating a home invasion robbery early Tuesday in Puna. Officers responded to a 2:30 a.m. report Tuesday (July 8) of a robbery at a home in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision.

Police say an unknown man whose face was hidden with 'fabric' entered a house on 1st Avenue off Maku'u Street, took out what appeared to be a firearm and threatened the 80-year-old male occupant. He then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, 6-foot-2, 140 pounds with brown eyes and a long, thin face. He was wearing baggy brown pants and a short-sleeved multi-color shirt.
