NUUANU, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 75-year-old pedestrian died Tuesday following a traffic accident near the intersection of Nuuanu Avenue and Bates Street, paramedics said.
The man, a Nuuanu resident, was taken to the Queen's Medical Center in extremely critical condition after a blue Ford Focus hit him at approximately 5:15 a.m. He later died.
Honolulu police arrested 52-year-old Barbara Hazama, the driver, for alleged "negligent homicide" and for "operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant."
Nuuanu Avenue, between Judd and Bates Streets, was closed for about three hours so police could investigate the crash.
