Rescue crews search for missing teen hiker in Waianae

WAIANAE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Honolulu Fire Department is searching for a 15-year-old boy who has been missing since Saturday morning.

Officials say Richard Vierra Jr. went hiking alone on Saturday at 6:30 a.m., in the trails near his home on Ala Akau Street in Waianae. Vierra called his mother at approximately 11:30 a.m., to say he was coming down, but has not been seen or heard from since.

Vierra is described as being 5'5", approximately 120 pounds and having reddish hair and brown eyes.
