HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 20-year-old man is in critical condition after he was struck by a van while crossing Ala Moana Boulevard on Friday night.
Officials say the accident happened just after 11 p.m. Friday at the intersection of 680 Ala Moana Blvd and Coral St.
According to HPD, an adult military male with a Honolulu address was struck by a van while jaywalking mauka-bound in a marked crosswalk. Police say he did not have the right of way and was not permitted to cross at the traffic signals.
EMS transported him to Queen's Medical Center with major head and body injuries.
It is not clear if speed was a factor in the accident. The intersection is well-lit by street lights and weather did not pose a problem.
Police say the driver of the vehicle is a Honolulu man who stayed on scene to offer aid until police and ambulance arrived.
